Backpacking trip to Laurel Fork in Highland County

Oh how we love to get up in the morning!

Breakfast is a must for our long day!

Searching for salamanders ....

And after lunch....

There are even more salamanders to be found!

And finally -- back at the bottom -- we're definitely ready for supper!

Some of our favorite Salamanders

Why is this Spring Salamander under a rock? Doesn't he know he's supposed to be in the creek!

A tiny neonate.

A banner year for Spotted Salamanders.

A Year of Interesting Fungi

It's been so rainy for the last two months that fungi are popping up everywhere.

A red cup fungus we named "Red Jelly Cups".

A coral fungus -- probably the Crown-tipped Coral Fungus (Clavaria pyxidata).
