Backpacking trip to Laurel Fork in Highland County

It was a very wet start to the day as we boarded the bus for Highland County.

After a stop at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Greenbank, WV (and a stop at Henry's for last-minute items), we arrived at the Locust Springs picnic area.
It's still raining!

We won't see our bus again until Thursday morning...

We established camp at the trailhead because the trail was super-slippery. And the sun has come out!!!

Our water source is Locust Spring. It's C-O-L-D!!

Red-spotted newts were plentiful at the campsite. This one has changed to the olive-green mature form.
