Dabney S. Lancaster Community College
Clifton Forge, Virginia

Greenbrier State Forest

Most of the day was spent counting and measuring trees, saplings, seedlings, and shrubs along a 50-m transect.

A quick thunderstorm (the promised "torrential downpour") didn't dampen spirits.

In the evening, after our talent show, we had a "Night Sounds" program that included night journaling.

Large moths are fairly common this time of year.

Sadly, this Imperial Moth (Eacles imperialis) was dead, but mostly intact.

This Polyphemus Moth (Antheraea polyphemus) was attracted to the lights in our picnic shelter.
