First stop of the day was for tree "photo-ops" at Roaring Run in Botetourt County.
After record rains last week, Roaring Run was living up to its name.
In 2013 (above, right), we deemed the water too high to go swimming. The left photo
above shows Roaring Run this year.
We couldn't even make it all the way up to the falls, as the top of the trail had
become part of the stream.
Our main purpose for going to Roaring Run was to get photos and info on 25 to 30 trees.
Usually we camp at the Greenbrier State Forest near Caldwell, WV, but this year's major
flood made that impossible. So we set up camp at the Morris Hill campground at
Lake Moomaw.
Trying to get a campfire going -- marshmallows are already waiting!
