Clifton Forge, Virginia
Before heading for West Virginia, we stopped Roaring Run near Eagle Rock in Botetourt County.
Before looking at trees, we had a short exercise on observing nature without sight.
Each participant had to find a place to sit for their observations.
After 15 minutes, each participant had to write about the experience in their journal.
Next on the agenda was our hike up to Roaring Run Falls learning to identify trees
along the way.
Crossing Roaring Run.
Gage and Benny belong to the "Do as I say, not as I do" club. Sitting on a log some
distance above the creek is not an approved activity!
Three girls prepare to become members of the "Polar Bear Club" by dunking in the
cold waters of Roaring Run.
The water in Roaring Run is cold!
After our stop at the falls, we continued with tree study while walking back down
the upper trail.
